Improving Local Impressions

Taverham Nursery Centre is a local garden centre located just outside of Norwich. It’s well-known for its excellent indoor Plant House, high-quality products, local suppliers, and the attached Craft & Country Shopping Centre. This family-run centre has been trading since the 1980s and is here to help locals make their garden dreams a reality.

Taverham Nursery Centre initially asked Affinity to support them with a new website but noted some support in marketing would be incredibly beneficial. They needed the time and expertise to help manage their offline marketing and social media, and that’s where we came in.

The Approach
Their Social Media pages were previously managed in-house by staff members on the floor, but while the posts had good engagement, we noted parts of the garden centre that were not featured as much, and some channels had little-to-no engagement. As a result, we chose to focus on Facebook and Instagram as priorities and introduced Paid Social activity to help boost their audience.

We began with an in-depth audit of their marketing activity and made recommendations based on market factors and ROI. After that, we assessed their social media pages and close competitors to generate lists of engaging topics, posts, and ideas. From there, we created a set of branded and consistent design templates for their visuals and began planning posts with input from the marketing team. For Paid Media, we focused on retargeting via their existing social audience, website visitors and loyalty customer lists. We then used this data to create lookalike audiences and filtered these by distance from the Garden Centre to maximise local targeting.

The Result
Adjusting the messaging for seasonal products and themes and maximising the Paid Social budget around peak times helped increase audience size and boost interest in their wider product ranges.
